What kind of scent do you use?
After seeing a dog trail me to my tree stand. I realize a deer could trail me much easier.
Has anyone used a skunk oil on the bottom of your boots? Is this overkill.
I use Tinks 69 and still steamin on a drag cloth. I have had luck bringing in does early in the season and bucks around the rut. What is your favorite?
Some guys believe in vanilla.....
What is your experience.

Though I don't use it often I tend to have some success using those tarsal gland packages from Tinks as a drag. I have had 4 bucks follow my trail right into my hunting area. Sadly, none of them were legal.
As for the skunk pee.....that is too much for even I to consider wearing on a regular basis.

I have had good luck with Hawgs Wild scents. Especially when used in mock scrapes. I plan on starting a few scrapes in the next few weeks with the scent. I also had some luck with James Valley scents last season.

I used to use cover scents but not anymore. I use scent eliminator and try not to leave any scent. I've sat in my stand and watched too many deer cross my path not to believe in this stuff. They walked past my stand and didn't have a clue that I was there. No scent at all makes the most sense for me.

You can not cover your scent!! The funny thing to me is how someone puts a few drops of animal pee or dirt smell or tree smell on and expect it to cove their scent. A deer can pick out one part per million. One molecule will not cove up another. That's why a deer can smell where you or another deer walked.Put your noseto the groundand all you will smell is dirt but the deer can pick up on the different molecule left by you or a deer hours earlier. That's also why dogs can find drugs even in gasoline and find adrowned personunder water.
Just keep as clean as possible and play the wind.
