I would not shoot just a little to far for me.

Quartering away is fine. The lower light might pose a problem. But if you're comfortable at the distance and it's the last day of the season. Put the pin on him, aim low, and let it fly.

Aim low because since the deer is alerted, he's more apt to jump the string.

I'd shoot.

I'm confident my .270 could make that shot.

Honestly, I can't say what I'd do.....but I'd probably take the shot.

I wouldn't shoot even if he wasn't on alert. That is outside of the range I am comfortable shooting.

I'd shoot...I think. Have killed deer with a single shot out to ...well, a bit farther, but I am gonna try to limit myself out to 35-40 yds. I was just really hungry that one time

NOPE, my limit is 35 yards. Plus you already said the buck was tense. Certainly not worth it to me.

no way would i take a 40 yard shot at a buck. i dont care how big it was. i try to stay between 10-20 yards for my shots. i know im on there so im more confident with closer shots

I would shoot in a heart beat. I practice up to 50yds. My longest kill is 49yds. Also that is the only shot I have taken over 35yds.

It would be stupid to shoot unless you are hunting with a gun. If you are a bow hunter and would take the shot then you don't know what you are doing!
