Default HuntingNet puts together an archery course...

What do us Administrators do when we're not banning you guys??

Well, for one thing... we've been putting together an archery shoot. (It's both fun and an incredible pain in the hindend.)

It's not just a HuntingNet deal, it's also for a local 'hunt club' and we will be raising money for a kids charity.

First, we needed an archery shooting platform... We picked a nifty spot and grabbed one of our board users (Bowman15) and started working...

Looky.. me with a tool.. ooooh... Scary.

Jim with a drill (he's not an admin or a board user... lucky him.. )

Oh.. it's getting there..

Then we put in stairs (which warped) and railings and other fun things...

Then we started on the basic part of the archery course.....

Todd, our fearless leader and owner of this website must have bought some stock in arrow shafts.. because the first thing he put in on the course is a bunch of piles of concrete that archers will have to shoot around. It's pretty cool.. it makes you really pick a spot...

40 yard shot with a longbow.. no problem...

My attempt at shooting from the rocks... Pay no attention to my crummy form..

This area here will be the 'sighting in' and 'broadhead' range. Eventually, there will be covered excelsior bales for broadheads and this will be our kids range for our shoot on the 27th.

The platform is part of the 'permanent' part of the course. (as opposed to the full 3-D course which will be an 'occasional' type deal) Here's another HNI board user (Carpsniper) shooting his longbow at an arrow killing velicoraptor.

Then he tries my awesome bow... which is much slower than his longbow..

Not only did I get him to shoot a wheelie bow.. but later I got him on an ATV.. (I'm such a baaad influence)

So anyhow.. that's all the pics for now. This Sunday, Justin and I will be cutting trails for the 30 target 3-D course. It will be interesting. Justin is going to Ozzfest Saturday night and I'm going to an all-night bowfishing shoot. If the course is completly weird... that's probably the reason... [8D]

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!!! I don't know what I'm more excited about; the course, the trap-range or the food.

Tick, tock.. tick, tock... the event draws closer.....

We've been working hard... It's mostly grunt type stuff now, like loading and carting around 40 straw bales this morning.
(here's a picture of my truck, the boss' trailer, the friendly farmer and his dog.) I really did load all of those bales and I have the all the cuts and little pokey holes in my hands and legs to prove it. (I'll have to wear pants and gloves next time.... I'm too delicate for this stuff.. ha ha)

The shooting bench is 80% done.

The sporting clays tower is in place and tested.

Justin has been trail cutter guy and target placer.
Here's to you, Trail-Cutter-Guy.

He's also been testing the course. He's going as far as checking to see how hard it is to find arrows that completely miss the target. (at least.. I think that's what he's doing. hahahaha..)

I just can't get over how good looking I am!

And nevermind my shooting ability - or lack thereof. I'm just here for the beer and the high fence hunting! Oh, and the great pay!
