Default Well Sir, I crossed over to the dark side!

Was shooting my bow over the weekend and decided to try shooting some bare shafts again just because I had em and wanted to re-check my tuning etc. Well, needless to say, they didn't group and I found myself languishing over it even though the fletched arrows were grouping fine. The bare shafts actually flew quite bad indicating some type of spine problem. Got some wicked tail-high flights as well as no grouping. Through messing around, trying different poundage etc, I decided to remove my Whisker Biscuit and put my old TM Hunter style rest back on. Thought I would be able to make some finer adjustments. But now my arrows were too short for this rest. It was then that I decided I might as well get some new arrows. Maybe try a different shaft size. As it turns out, I crossed to the dark side and went carbon! Bought 6 Beman ICS camo hunter 400's.

I still have to install the inserts so I won't be able to shoot em till tomorrow. Looking forward to see how they work in my bow.

For a second, just a brief second I thought you were going to say you bought a Mathews to fix your problem. Usually when someone crosses to the dark side it is with a bow.

Good Luck with your carbons. I have yet to trade sides. I still like my alum. arrows.

I can only caution you on the carbons. They are $$$$.

Carbon's are all that I've ever shot. I showed up at the pro shop last year, they were what my buddies were using, so what did I know.

That being said, as I've gotten better with the bow, the use of the carbons has cost me extra $$.

I have begun to really group my shots (whoopee ), but as they are now grouping VERY tightly, I've ruined 4 carbons! Kinda ended up placing one on top of the other - not just 1x but 4x... OUCH

Each time, it kinda made me feel good and bad at the same time, if you know what I mean.

You were thinking exactly what I was, IL_BOW_MAN! I thought we had us a new Mathews convert!

Cardeer...Wouldn't going INTO the er, um, closet be the dark side? HAHA FYI, To put any rumors to rest, I'm happily married with two boys thank you very much!!

JustinL...your right. They're NOT cheap. I gotta be careful not to mess em up while tuning.

IL_Bow_man/MQ1Shooter...Not currently shooting a Mathews but I gotta admit, I have a weak spot for them. I really like the SQ2. I'm thinking about a new bow for next year and that's one of the ones I'll spend some more time with.

Carbons are awesome, but yes a little pricy. They will stand up though and you should be very happy with them.

Congrats on the carbons, but they will not solve your bare shaft problem.

Unless you are WAY off on spine it is the LAST thing one should look at when tuning a bow. I love the bare shaft tune and always shoot a bare shaft with my six arrow set.

Good Luck
