RE: Poll...Board behavior trends...
If I had a child I wouldn't mind him or her reading this forum but others no way. this is the best forum bar none. It is most friendly of all of them by far. we do have some heated discussions but we try to keep it on pretty good behavior here. I think I will stay for a while.

RE: Poll...Board behavior trends...
I used to spen a lot of time on these boards but in the past there has been some people that I just didn't care for, they were always sarcastic and when I said something about it I got ridiculed from some others on here so I found another board that has a lot of christian bow hunters and there is NO sarcasim and no bashing and that is what I like. I will say one thing for the moderators on here after I posted my concerns about the sarcasim I haven't seen the person post, so good job moderators

I agree with keeping it civil. Some people just can't "discuss" without getting personal. That does nothing to add to a discussion. It merely allows the situation to degrade into a pissing match. I've been at odds a few times with others here, but chose to resolve the differences privately, by e-mail. Each time the result was positive, I feel I've made friends by airing things out, privately. The bashing threads are kept to a minimum. Usually they're started by people with little knowledge of their targeted item. Overall this is a great BBS, and I enjoy reading and inserting my .02. Hopefully it will remain so. I must add that the people I've conversed with here are, in general, knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks to everyone for the advice and friendship.

I doubt this board will ever be quite like it was at one time. IT's always changing, and that's cool too. But overall this place is great. There has been a few times I've disagreed with something on here and even disagreed with a mod a couple times or stupid stuff. But this place has a lot of good info to learn and is a great place to share information or show off that animal you killed. And isn't that why we're here? Just remember, discussions are good, just don't take things personal, and if you think its personal, then take it to email, and keep it off here.

RE: Poll...Board behavior trends...
I have been on this board for about 2 years now and primarily frequent this forum and the technical forum. I must say that things have been a lot more confrontational in the last few months, but some of those discussions have been the most enlightening. I don't think that the arguments (and let's not sugar coat it, that's what they are) are not necessarily bad, although there are some attacks by certain members that are personal and have no relevance to the topic. I personally laugh at these comments because anyone that has personally attack someone unprovoked other than having a differing opinion really isn't worth taking seriously. It's sad because sometimes the value of their argument is lost in the insult. I just hope that others would not leave over this because this is the best board I have found and has really taught me a lot. Not to mention that, for the most part, those that frequent this board are a great bunch of people that I am happy and proud to share the sport of bowhunting with.

RE: Poll...Board behavior trends...
This is by far the best forum there is. One suggestion is somehow have an area setup for the newbies. My reason is when hunting season draws near, the same questions come up about broadheads, treestands, etc. Their number of posts is usually 5 or less. My concern is that the "veterans" so to speak, will get tired of answering the same weekly questions, not reply as much and someone feels left out and goes somewhere else. Hopefully this isn't the case.
What I feel we as forum readers and posters should do is READ the post first, then reply sensibly. Once an emotional word triggers our thought process (i.e. taking long shots, use of crossbow, trad vs. compound, fixed vs mech bh, etc), the accusations start flying and folks get it twisted all around.

Different approach and my .02 :
A word from the wise has been heeded. I have been frequenting this BBS for a few months now and very much look forward to logging-in every day and gaining knowledge from the more experienced members and reading all of the new posts. I greatly enjoy the fact that there are so many members willing to take the time/ effort to address issues and answer questions. On that note, after reading this topic and the responses that it has rec'd, I must admit; although not proud of it and slightly embarassed, it can probably be said that I have been pulled into and participated (to some extent) with "heated debate that became personal".
You are all correct when you say that this is inappropriate and detracts from the environment of this forum. Looking back, there are a handful of situations that I would have approached differently if given the opportunity, but you cannot replay the past....only improve upon the future. That being said, for my small part of participation that could have been perceived as abrasive or inappropriate by some of the other visitors to this board- I humbly extend my appologies. I assure you all, in the future I will do my small part to "measure twice and shoot once" before I speak (type). Just like when in the treestand, sometimes it is best just to be silent .
I have gained a great amount of information from this forum and look forward to much more in the future. Hopfully I can provide a little wisdom along as well along the way. thanks.
