Default elk deer terds

how do you detirmine fresh from old elk or deer dropings color stiffnes and such

Pick it up....Put in your mouth...only chew TWICE. NO MORE. If it tastes a little like lemon, its very fresh. If it tastes like poo, its a couple days old.

Fresh is green, soft and slimy. As it ages it gets dry and brown.

You may want to post questions like this in the other forums such as "Deer hunting" or "big game hunting".

You should pick some up and roll it in your hands really hard and fast. If it crumbles into dust it is old, if it just smears and gets all over your hands smear some on your cheeks and forhead to keep the glare of the sun from reflecting off your skin it will also hide your scent from the deer and elk.

Elk scat will resemble a medium to large pinecone looking much like Milk Duds w/a slight slime film over it if it is real fresh.

if it's still steaming, be very quite, look stright up, and the bum it fell out of should still be standing there..
