Summits foot stirrups and fast back harness mini-review
http://www.broadheadtests.com/FEATURES.html
Just a little info for those interested. I found them both to be improvements over what is currently on the market and they should make life a little easier in the stand.

I cannot comment on the stirrups but I did pick up a fast back harness this past year and I must say that I am very impressed with it. It does exactly as you mentioned....easy to put on and off because of the mesh back and lack of tangles. It makes it a heck of alot more desirable to wear than some of the older styles.

RE: Summits foot stirrups and fast back harness mini-review
Sorry 5shot,I have to disagree.I thought the new stirrups were more trouble than they are worth.Believe me,I do have some experiance with these stands, the Viper X-4 is my third Viper stand I've owned.
The stirrups got in the way of my size 14's,cut out too much of the platform area for my feet.I did'nt like the loose bungee cord for "securing" your feet in the stirrups.
Also, you know how you have to get a little "kick"(disengage) when your ready to decend,I just felt that the stand was'nt securly attached to my feet.I like the "old" straps and bungee better.
So,I retrofitted the X-4 with the straps and new bungee cords(Home-Depot,better bungee cords)and it works great....Bob

I have one of the new vipers and I like the new stirrups. They are great for climbing but i agree with trestand that they feel a little loose on decent. They do take up some platform space but if you have a foot rest it's not an issue.

I think the stirrups are cheaply made and will be improved next year. I like the idear but I don't like them as they are now. Much too flimsy and I just don't get that secure feeling with them.

I have to agree with 5 shot on this one. I love the new stirrups, however, they are a bit on the flimsy side. I don't have a problem with acending and decending. I use the new mini-viper X4 and I have size 9 1/2 feet so I don't have as much issue with the room. I too feel they will improve upon this idea next year as well. It sure beats the heck out of the old strapping method IME.

I like the stirrups.......they're going to get a workout this season so I hope they hold up.
By the way, if for some reason one of the stirrups should break on you, don't panic and think you are stuck.......just turn your foot out further and jam it into the 'V" of the frame.
I really have to get one of those fast back vest deals though.[&o] Every morning and evening I feel like I'm playing with some Chinese torture puzzle.[:@]

I saw the new stirupps in my pro shop the other day. My question is how brittle will the plastic become after a whole day in the freezing cold? How easy will it snap?
My solution is to use a 1 inch wide strap on each side and rivet each end of the strap to the stand. If any one is interested I will try to post a picture of my viper.
It works great

I'm with trestand
I have been using my summit climber for 4 years. After putting on the stirrups I didn't care for them, I put the old strap back on.
I was also (like sideways) wondering how they would stand up to a day in the cold.

Post your picture. I would like to see that. You guys have me wondering now about how the plastic will hold in the cold weather. I don't know why they didn't make them out of aluminum or other metal..
