Simple........call the police, report the trespassing and vandalism, tell them you have pictures. Take it from there.
They should investigate......and press charges. Don't be one of those "I'm afraid they'll retaliate types"

if you dont wanna turn them in, take a 2x4 and put a bunch of nails through it and put it on the trail. ya know, bury it a tad and cover it wit some leaves. let them run one of those over and see if they come back.
