I've had great success with my rattle bag. Rattled in many nice bucks, on public land to boot. Mine is comprised of round and square wood dowels about 1" thick. I dont know the make because I bought it so long ago. I wore out the original bag 5 yrs ago then put the dowels in a wool sock, tied off the end and it works as well as ever.

IMO the plastic rattle bags dont sound as realistic. Old, dried out horns loose some of their sound as well and their too bulky. It would not be difficult to make your own and you'll be impressed with the sound of a wood rattle bag.

I prefer the real thing over a rattle bag.
