BACK TO XX78-GOODBYE CARBON ??????

RE: BACK TO XX78-GOODBYE CARBON ??????
I have never hunted with aluminum shafts so I am not trying to down play their effectiveness, but I shoot carbon express maximas and at twenty yards hit a solid concrete wall and had it (after scaring the hell out of me) fly back all the way to my feet only missing the insert and knock. The shaft is still in good working condition.

I have seen that happen before. I was in the shop once when some recure shooters where in shooting there bows. They where always where goofing around and one of them took one of my arrows and shot it at the concrete wall behide are back stop and the arrow came back 20 yards at him and going over his head into the other room and didn't do any thing but blunt the point. I about crapped my pants if that arrow would of hit him. he gave me a funny look and all he could say I ate ever seen a arrow do that before ,holly #%@*#! there are few stuck in the wall too, where a release has gone off and they can't pull them out

RE: BACK TO XX78-GOODBYE CARBON ??????
I will say this I started shooting bows and arrows in 91 when I was 11. Yes I know. I was excited about all the new things coming out and begged my dad for all of them. I started shooting a browning intercepter with easton gamegetter good arrows got the job done. When carbon arrows first came out they were hot piles of garbage period. Swore that i would never try them again. Last year I bought a new bow a bowtech alligeance Was going to go with aluminums my buddy talked me into getting carbon arrows his Are pse radial x weaves in my opinion garbage. You can shoot the PSE into a 1/2 in plywood they will not break shoot them into a 1/4 plywood they snap like twigs. So I went out on a wim and bought the GT expedition hunter 5575 I love them things they are awesome shoot great and very strong. I hit one at the tip by the insert with a broad head decided to junk it andin my infinate wisdom desided to shot it at a metal dumpster down the road yes dump very dump, with nofield point or anything on it I went over there to my amasement to find only slightly cracked arrow. Need I remind you with no field point or broadhead and after I nicked the end of it with a broad head. I retrospect Carbon nowadays is the only way to go. end of story

I agree; I have no confidence in carbon arrows. I tried one 3-D season with ACC's and was not impressed and retuned for XX 78's.

I went back to shooting XX-78s back in the 90s. BUT. I'm shooting carbons again and will never go back to aluminums.
Try the Easton ST series of arrows if your looking for a great arrow. I can't speak for the others, but I know after shooting other carbon arrows that they are all not created equal. Some are garbage. I didn'[t realize it when i went back to Aluminumns, but i realize it now. If you buy the cheap carbon arrows, the adage holds true. You get what you pay for.

Again these stories still amaze me. A buddy and I were antelope hunting last weekend. He shot a cattle salt block at 30 yards with a Judo point. I told him, don't do it you'll be sorry, same as a rock. His CE maxima ended up about 4 inches shorter than before the shot. That is how far back up the shaft the insert and point went, with the arrow brooming our around it.
I guess he just got a bad batch.

RE: BACK TO XX78-GOODBYE CARBON ??????
ive had some CX s and im not impressed by there durability esp the maxima (reg) GTs and bemans have been unreal for me. my old deer target has a rebar stuck way up in the leg (dont ask) and today i hit it with my beman mfx back up arrow and the field tip was flattened and the insert in side actually bent inside the shaft and the arrow only had a little buldge if i wanted i could cut off about a 1/4" and shoot it again.
