Default Optical sight lights?good/bad?

I have never used the light for the sight i just bought. What do you guys think about them. Biggest Question: do they Help? Ive heard they make it harder to see deer in the wee hours of dawn and dusk. Is that True?[&:]

What most of them do is make the pins so bright that when you start to aim you see right through the peep (if you use one). The pin is nice and bright, but it's like a flood light in your eyes. You can't see past that floodlight.

The other thing I've found is that battereies for most are not cheap. Most lights use two or three batteries and at $3 each that gets to be a pretty big "ouch". Better off to spend the extra money on a higher quality sight in the first place.

My point being that there are lots of wrapped fiber sights on the market today that are plenty bright enough to extend shooting time well past most legal or ethical shooting times, and without the aid of lights.

Truglo has an adjustable sight light out that will not blind you like most standard ones will.

Spott Hogg makes an adjustable one for their sight. Works great. Particularly in the ground blind. Currently legal here, since a judge recently overturned the ban on lighted sights and luminocks. Maybe not for long, though.

A must have in a ground blind. Of course it may be the ONLY time a Spot-Hogg with Hogg Wrap may need a light! Those sights are incredible!
