Thoughts On NAP 4000 Quick Tune Drop-Away Rest?
I am looking at buying a new rest for my bow and was looking at the NAP 4000 Quick Tune Drop-Away rest and was wondering what your thoughts were on this rest? How difficult is the install and is it a pain to get it adjusted properly? How is the reliability of this rest? Lastly how does this drop-away rest compare to the other drop-away rests currently available?

I changed the rest on my FX from a QT 1000 to the QT 4000 fallaway. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
I followed the installation instructions to the letter. Later that day on the range my first three arrows [at 20 yareds]grouped in the bull. My fourth arrow, a broadhead sliced the vanes on two of the first three arrows. I have asked a couple questions of the NAP Tech and they were very helpful and informative.
Last Wednesday I shot again and adjusted my thirty and forty yard pins. Two groups [3 out of four] were in the bullseye. I shot four arrows at the forty yard pin but they all grouped high center . . . but my back went out and I didn't get a chance to do the final adjustments. The back is better now and I expect to be grouping in the bull at forty yards.
Some of the other fallaway rests are hard to install on several of Mathews bows.
I am as you might tell VERY well satisfied and hioghly recommend the rest. One note though, I ordered mine from Cabela's and the cable slide was an older version and it had been re-designed; so make sure you have the newest cable slide. The NAP 800 number is on the packaging . . . the older cable slide will also cut the cable coating.
I hope this helps.

I've been shooting the NAP 2000 fall away rest for about three months now. It's my first fall away rest so I have no basis to tell whether it's any better than a MZE, Mirage..... I can tell you that it was easy to install and setup. It was not easy to paper tune. THAT is where you cant go wrong with buying the 4000. With micro adjustments that thing will be sweet. I dont think you will regret it.

Don't know much about these fall away rest but if you draw and decide not to shoot, does the rest drop away when you let off the draw? Like I said I don't know how they work so please excuse my ignorance.

HANKFAN, I've been messing with the NAP drop aways since they came out. The 4000 is defifnitely worth the extra, due to ease of tuning. The rest is simple and reliable. I have three of them and shoot alot, with no problems. Installation is easy. Most critical is the lifting cable adjustment. Having not used the other drop aways, I have no comment regarding a comparision.
Hawker, yes the rest drops when you let down. It drops as slowly as you let down, so it is not going to lose the arrow and let it fall off.
Phil.

I have been shooting a 4000 for about 3 weeks. You may have noticed my post complaining about the cable slide chatter causing the arrow to bounce noisily on the rest. In all fairness, it appears I was wrong because I thought it was the twists of the cable cutting through the grooves of the slide, causing the slide to "index" the slide back in increments. Lubricating the bar with lithium grease helped only temporarily, but when the shop tech coated the bar with string wax, the problem hasn't come back. He said mine was only the second bow to have this much trouble smoothing out the slide, but so far so good.

olddogrib after I installed my QT 4000 and adjusted it I noticed that the cable had been cut in pulling it through the cable bracket. I called NAP because I didn't want to void any warranties. I was told that they had a new cable slide and they sent it to me with a new cable. They had redesigned the cable slide and clamp system. Putting the new one on was simple and quick. And wow does it ever shoot.

Do any of you guys have the rubber arrow holder that you adhere to your bow shelf that NAPs website says they are not shipping with the 4000? If so, any comments on it pertaining to how good a job it does holding the arrow? What about when you let back down, does the shaft automatically go back in the holder?

Yes the arrow holder works as intended, goes right back in the holder. Hankfan,I have the NAP 2000 and it took me all of 3 minutes to setup and adjust. I did have a chatter problem but i e-mailed NAP and they sent me the updated cable slide no noise since. They are both very good rests. Hope this helps and good luck on your decision.

The arrow holder did come with my QT 4000 and it works great.
Part of the holder that extended beyond the arrow shelf. Fortunately I have an FX and there ie a natural turndown. However, at the turn it came loose. I just used normal contact cement and it worked great.
