ASIAN CARP ROUND UP

WHAT: Illinois River Asian Carp Round Up
WHERE: Starved Rock State park, LaSalle Illinois
WHEN: Aug. 26 8pm till Aug 27 8am
WHY: to assist the ecology of the Illinois river with the removal of as many invasive fish as possible in 12 hrs.
PAYOUT:$1000 first prize the rest of the entry fee will be 100% payback minus dumpster fee.
potential pay out with donated dumpster and 15 boat turn out will be 1st $1000, 2nd $750, 3rd $500, 4th $250
ENTRY FEE: $100 per boat (1,2, or 3 man team)
BIG FISH POT:$5 per species (silver, bighead, grass carp) 100% payback.
RULES: shotgun start from the boat ramp in starved rock state park (all participants will leave at same time from same place) you will be allowed to trailer and you will be able to use any legal means of taking these fish with the exception of commerical netting.All other rules will be discussed at a pretournament meeting at 7:30 pm Aug 26th at the boat ramp.

Sam, a couple ofquick questions,
1. Is this aCarpBusters sponsored tourney?
2. When you say any legal means of taking fish, I take this is not strictly a bowfishing tourney.

I talked to Sam about the shoot so I don't think he'll mind if I answer those questions.
Yes, it's an 'any legal method' carp roundup. (sport fishing methods... notcommerial netting) Bowfishing, spearing, angling, snagging (where legal) and catching silver carpin your boat.
It is the final leg of the Carpbusters.com tournament trail.
I'm trying to get some addition prize money for the biggest grass carp and biggest bighead. (since those won't jump into your boat) They will be a bit more of a challenge.

I just saw a program last night that featured this species. When they drive a boat through the water, the carp jump all over the place - even into the boat. That was wild!
If you had a baseball bat, you could smack a few out of the park!
