Newbie Questions: Do they ever end?
Hey guys- I've got more newbie questions for ya! I'm a bowhunter looking to get into bowFISHING! I've never even fished with a rod before, so I have no clue what I'm doing on the water. I'm pretty much starting from scratch. I can get all the gear, I just have questions about how to find some gar. I live in the Dallas area, so I have many many lakes to choose from. There's tons of big lakes around, and I've got a lakehouse on a very small lake, hence the desire to havesome fun with the bowduring the offseason!
Question 1: doI need to be on a big lake, or can I bowfish on the miniature one? It may sound dumb, but like I said I'm starting from scratch!
2: Day/Night the best time?
3: Do you bait gar?
4: Is there a different aiming point? I'm aware of the concept of refraction, so I assume it applies here too???
5: Are there any licenses involved?
Some of these questions may be common sense, but I haven't got much to work with here!!! J/k, I really appreciate the help!!

Your best bet is to contact your state bowfishing club. I can't help you much because I've never bowfished in Texas. (not yet anyhow)
Here's a link to your state club.
