Default New to Black powder hunting

Last year was the first year I went hunting with a muzzle loader. I got one shot, and missed..[&o] Oh well, better luck this year. I shoot a CVA Buckhorn in-line. Anyway, I shot several different loads, and really wasn't incredibly happy with any. The best was 100gr of Pyrodex with a 240 gr. Sabot. I shot 150 gr of Pyrodex pellets, and wow...OUCH. Won't do that again. What loads do you shoot? What do you recommend?

I have a CVA Staghorn Magnum which was replaced with the Buckhorn. In my Staghorn there is no reason to go over 100 grains of powder. Looking through some of my notes on loads I find that I get better results shooting FFFg Goex powder first off.

Some of the loads that worked for me were 320 grain R.E.A.L. conicals lubed with bore butter on top of 90 grains of FFFg.

Also 90 grains of FFFg shooting a harvester sabot and a 300 grain Hornady XTP. I also shot some 250 grain Nosler Sabots which shot real well.

The best of them all of course was 90 grains of FFFg and a 348 grain Powerbelt pure lead hollow point.
