Cayugad, I knew you could and would put it all down so it makes sense THANK YOU THANK YOU. This is a printer to go in my BP bag for reference. I have been using 85 grains of 777 loose in my Pennsylvania and have good results, 4" at 50 yards and 8" with more fliers at 100 yards. My intent from what I have read was to use 85 normal grains, is that the word, powder charge so it seems I should use around 70 or 75 grains of 777? Thats good since I am drilling out an antler to a specific quanity to be a powder loader and 70 gr needs a smaller whole. I want to use an antler tip because it looks nicer than a butt section except the tips are thin so smaller volume is easier to drill. I think the Pennsylvanian & powder Horn with an antler loader will look nice together.

Striper Phil when shooting Triple Se7en in your rifle you claim to get flyers, or if you would like a tighter group. Look at your patches (if your shooting round ball) and check them to see if they are burned up real bad. Triple Se7en has a tendency to produce some much higer temps when ignited. To combat this in my .54 caliber Mountain Stalker when I shoot 85 grains of Triple Se7en and a moose milked patched round ball, I add a wonderwad between the powder charge and the patched ball. This really made a difference in the accuracy of the shots.

You can make your own wonder wads with a 9/16th hollow hole punch and some bore butter and insulation felt. Or you can buy them on line. The purchased ones do work better then my homemade ones. If you have some cornmeal or cream of wheats in the house, next time after you drop your powder charge and tap the butt of the rifle on the toe of your shoe a few times to level the charge in the barrel, then add about 15-20 grains of cornmeal to the barrel. Level that as well with a gentle tap, and then seat your projectile. The cornmeal will help take the heat off the Triple Se7en and your accuracy might improve and your flyers might go away. If it does not help, your not really out anything and your back to square one....

Lots of people put a wonderwad between the powder charge and their conicals also. And a new craze is to add a buffer wad between the powder charge and sabots. I have not experimented with that action yet, but will be soon.....

I have been using pre-lubed and pre-cut Traditions patches. Shot the Traditions 2000 carbine Hole in the stock on Sunday and had mixed results. My main objective was to get a first shot bull at 50 yards and I did with only bore liquid and dry patches to ready the barrel. I alternated 12 shots between 50 yards and 100 yards. The 50 yard was a 2-3” group with 3 of 6 tight in the 1’ bull including the all so important first. I am glad I got a bull without fouling the barrel so I don’t have to clean the ML after each days hunt. Any way the 100 yard remains elusive. I dropped from 2 50 gain pellets to 3 30 grain pellets to lessen the charge. Still have a 8 – 10 inch pattern at 100 yards This is really beginning to annoy me. If you remember I seem to have this problem with 3 different MLs. Just to suit my ego I got out the 270 and drilled the bull at 100 yards????
