Default Idea for keeping out moisture

Lots of products that you buy contain little packets of silicon to absorb moisture during shipping and storage. Keep these and put them in your gun cases, gun cabinet, ammo storage, etc. Every so often, when you put new ones in, throw the older ones out. Oh, and don' t eat them!

Or, buy a canister of the stuff from Brownell' s, and put it in your gun safe. Then bake it for a couple of hours when it turns pink, and put it back in your gun safe. The problem with those little packets is you never know when they reach saturation, and need to be replaced.

etothepii welcome to the forum.I found that a heated rod (Golden Rod)and burn a low wattage light bulb in your safe works the best.Once I bought some of of the moisture absorber at Wal*mart.Somehow some got on a gun barrel and ruined the bluing. That was the first and last time I ever used any of it.Put the heated rod in and forget about it. Check your light bulb often.
