Default OT: Lost a good buddy

Last Wednesday we were back on on way to FL and stopped half way (in NC) to grab a bite to eat. We let our labs out to tinkle and got them each a roast beef sandwich (arby's) and we all sat and ate at the vehicle. When it was time to leave our older lab jumped into the vehicle followed by the 4 year old. I climbed into the driver's seat whild my wife was giving them a drink. The old lab collapsed and died right there in the vehicle. I tried CPR giving chest compressions and mouth to nose but could not get her to come back. All I could figure is she had a massive heart attack. She was overweight and had fluid around her heart. My wife was so devastated that we had to turn around and drive all the way back to PA.
We were all very saddened by the event. We picked up another yellow lab yesterday. An 8 week old bundle of fur and energy. But she is only a substitute and will never replace the one we had. Our gorgeous girl is buried in our back yard where she called home.

Sorry to hear about that Mr. Bronkowski. Having dogs all my life, I have sadly had to bury a few myself and I know well your pain.

Sorry to hear that, losing a four footed buddy is never easy. Condolences. At least he passed on among his friends.

Sorry to hear this. Its so hard losing your best friend.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I can never read that all the way through, for some reason my vision gets blurred.

Unhappy Sorry for the loss...

Lost my share of "bub's" in my time.

All, take a toll, often the replacement doesn't measure up in the animal world. It's not that they don't measure up, as much as I hate to say that, it's that our expectations are higher out of the gate.

Sorry for your loss. In Memory of "Gus"! See Attached.
