Default 1X Scope Dilemma Fixed

Our son detests the 1X scope. It is especially bad, when they turn out to be an actual .9X or thereabouts. He wondered if mother had an old Coke bottle somewhere. He figured an old Coke bottle would work better than the dam 1X scope.
I would prefer you mount a 1950's coke bottle on mine so I can see what I'm shooting at. Maybe Talley will make you some rings.
It turned out she didn't know of any. However, we did discover a worthy substitute. We were also able to keep the cost of the rings less, and the mount is good and sturdy. His birthday is in October.

Default Not so Good

Well...........not so good. He wrote in email........
Seems like the 50’s coke bottle has a thicker bottom and would be more compact. It also seems like it would transmit light better for the early morning and evenings.

That's hilarious! You know, I'd bet if you drilled a 3/8" hole in the bottom center of that bottle it would work pretty well.

Ron, your wife looks like someone I would want as a neighbor. (You? Not so much. )

That is funny. And now he can shoot into the sun without all that disturbing glare..
I like it.

Drilling a hole in the bottle would be a grave mistake. If one used a glass stopper (ground correctly) in the bottle one could fill the bottle, and carry it filled whilst hunting, and it would be a great sight. To keep the fill from freezing, it could be some type of single barrel malt.

If emptying the bottle resulted in poor aiming; who would care then?

P.S. Me thinks i could be a good neighbor.
