RE: Hornady SST sabots or power belts
I shot a 300 lb. deer with a powerbelt hollow point (348gr I think) and had excellent performance. It went through his massive shoulder on the high side and lodged under the skin on the far side in a perfect mushroom. Really made quick work of the big guy. A heck of alot better than any sabot!

RE: Hornady SST sabots or power belts
Between myself and my uncle last year 6 deer were taken with the powerbelt bullets. All kills were QUICK and the bullets, (295gr), performed excellent. I' m not going to shoot anything else this year either. They load easy, pattern well, and release all energy on impact. What more could you ask for?

RE: Hornady SST sabots or power belts
I tried many different combinations to get the PowerBelt 250g bullets to pattern well with my Encore. As much as I really liked not having the plastic fouling, I could not achieve a pattern under 3" at 100yds. I did use the PowerBelt tip on my ram rod. My Buddy' s Omega was shooting 1.5" groups right out of the box using 2 pellets of 777.
I switched to T/C' s 250g ShockWave (same bullet by Hornady just a different tip color) with 2 pellets of 777 and am now shooting sub 1" groups at 100 yards!
Now if I can only figure out an easy way to remove the plastic fouling left behind from the sabot.
You may have to experiment with these and other bullets to find the right match for your gun.
