It sounds like he wanted to get even before the ball took him.
The creek banks there are high and very steep. Hogs and deer can cross the creek in a relatively few places. My stand is there because thats a game crossing. Maybe the hog planned to cross the creek. If he did plan on crossing the creek my shot certainly sped up the action.

BTW: A .530 round ball does the job on big hogs.

I had a friend who hunted wild hogs with an outfitter in GA last winter. He told me that the boars are NOT worth eating unless they were "cut" as sucklings and released otherwise they are so strong they're not worth butchering. He told me the outfitter wanted them to shoot ALL the hogs they could when they started firing but he told them take only the cut boars, sows, and young pigs if they wanted to eat them.

They hunted at night with AR style rifles chambered in .308 equipped with night vision scopes.

Sausage city IMO! I have a friend that did a hog hunt and he had it turned into brats, beer sausage, sausage thats stuffed with the cheeses and stuff.

I think she named it Nancy , Nancy Piglosi .
