Just had a thought (shup Sabot I know it's rare ) But maybe the medium you shot it through created the problem. That hollow was filled up with crap and in there pretty damn tight. so NO hydraulic influence at all! You think those bullets depend upon hydraulic pressure like the CF's?

Very interesting test. What distance and powder charge was used?
Its a shame the other bullets were not found. It would have been interesting to see and weigh them. I never thought of the carpet, then thin shelf material before water. Kind of simulates a hide and some resistance before the water acts as body cavity. I like it.
