Lucky day
I had a successful shot on a deer today so I decided to stock up on the bullets since they have been so accurate in my 1:20 Disc. At long range.
Low and behold when I went to the Precision Rifle website they had a special Thanksgiving sale with 40% off . The 40/45 260 gr dead centers cost me less than 9 bucks a pack , so I ordered quite a few . It's the best bullet I've found in my 1:20 since the 230 gr Lehigh never made it to production . I won't be running short anytime soon .

Not sure as I don't have a chrono but I'm shooting them with 130 gr triple 7 in one gun and a 120 gr Blackhorn in another . The one today was 130 gr triple 7 . He didn't go but about 40 or 50 yards and fell down kicked and was dead.

IIRC 110gr or 115gr of BH209 and the 250gr QT was clocking 1950ish in a Elite or Accura V1 45cal. I don't remember which ML was chronoed. BH209 responds very well to heavy 40cals, especially in the 45cal MLs.
I do remember recoil was pretty stiff for the Elite. Im going to try them again in the Pacnor/Savage pig. Just the barrel is heavier than my NULA. I shot a few of the leftover QTs in it but i did not have enough to shoot for any serious groups. They showed a lot of potential though in a faster twist, IMO better than the Elite's 1-30. The barrel is tight though and its easy to damage the soft lead bullet. Gunna try some 45x40 crushribs next time and see if they load easier. I normally use the smooth blues in that ML.

I need to get a chrono some day . All I know is that the accuracy in the 1:20 is superb and the performance was great .He only went about 40 yards and fell down . He ran over a slight hill and I saw his legs up in the air as he kicked once . When I got there he was dead . 273 yards . I can't argue with that . I like the Lehigh 230 better but since they aren't available this is a darn good replacement and with the sale they are affordable compared to a lot of bullets out there , even with the shipping charge .

Soft lead is great for a near guaranty for expansion even at extended ranges. Even with a relatively low 1950fps MV, the heavy PR 40cals still carry a lot of fps/fpe past 200 yards. You should see how well my 260gr .401 hardcast penetrate. The high sectional density keeps a heavy 40cal together very well, even if its soft lead. I have no doubt it hammered that deer.
The hardcasts are just nuts. They plowed through everything i tried and i finally gave up and dug one out of a stump behind my test media.
I wish someone made a bullet shaped like a PR but hardcast just for long range target shooting. Mine are RNFPs so they do shed more fps than i prefer and they are lubed.
BTW i do know of another company that sells heavy 40cals with pure copper jackets and pure lead cores. The price is pretty good too. He just does NOT do a good job on the "pointy" ones. His soft/flat points are probably the best and his HPs are ok. Ive shot the 235gr HPs and they hold together extremely well. http://www.hawkbullets.com/Pricelist.htm

Just remember AVOID his spitzers. The quality control was terrible. Ive got 2 boxes of his .458 "pointy" bullets cheap and they are not consistently shaped. The HPs i bought directly were ok but not great. The flat points and round points ive seen looked like they were the best.
He has a bunch of odd caliber bullets like .406 which can easily be run through a .401 sizing die and he will make custom weights with a minimum order.
I want some in 230gr-250gr with a small .17 metplat soft point and very little lead exposed. Let me know if you would be interested in splitting an order if he can make them to that spec.
