CVA Youth Hunter ?
Hi Folks,
First time poster, really enjoyed reading your input.
I am just getting into muzzleloader hunting for whitetail this year. I am interested in the CVA youth hunter PR4104. I am a little person and looking into starting with a smaller than average model muzzleloader. I really would apperciate your input on the quality of CVA youth hunter or any other model.
Thanks

RE: CVA Youth Hunter ?
I just got a CVA Mountain Stalker from Bass Pro Shop in .54 caliber last week for $39.95 plus shipping. I think they were dumping that model because I see that they have only the .50 calibers left, and the price is back a little higher. This is a small rifle actually. It is a little over 5 pounds and has a composite stock. It also has a 1-48 twist so it can shoot roundball and conicals. This rifle might be very similar to the CVA Youth Hunter.
I have had it out twice now shooting. So far I am impressed with the way it has been shooting. I am getting some " nice groups" with roundball and 300 grain LEE R.E.A.L. conicals. Shooting 70 grains of Pyrodex Select, but think I can get them tighter. I still have not found the rifle' s sweet load, so I have not started adjusting the sights.
Out to 60 yards I would not be afraid to deer hunt with the rifle the way it is shooting right now, but when I get it tuned, I think this will be a good little woods rifle for walking around, and able to shoot out to 100 yards.
I will say, when you get the charge up in the 80+ grain range, and you have a wonderwad and a conical, the rifle really barks nice. I am really enjoying this new rifle.
