I've been pondering this for a while and I have a theory . I believe the poor accuracy is because the rifling depth and cloth patching is combining to not allow the bullet to be released from the patch upon leaving the barrel , thereby causing poor accuracy.
I think if you used the same cross patch made from paper that the bullet will release because the rifling will take care of the paper and you will get good accuracy. Try the cross patch with paper and see . I think it will work .
