Bore break-in
I understand the concept of barrel "break in" with the goal to burnish the bore, is the recommended procedure still the shoot & clean, shoot & clean method. I have a brand new 209X50 blue barrel for my T/C Encore that I haven't shot yet. It's been sitting with T/C bore butter in it since Christmas. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated. I've had my old smoke pole for about 10yrs so it's been awhile since I've had to condition a new one. Thanks all.

JB Bore paste is a quick way to smooth out the interior of a barrel. But with the new methods of barrel making and the quality of the material many rifles do not require a break in period. I would just go out and shoot it and see how it works.

Thanks guys. All of my centerfire barrels that I've bought for my encore have all been some of the most accurate shooting barrels I've ever had with bores that are not rough at all, in fact they look with the naked eye to have been polished. Whether they are or not is beyond me, but they sure look smooth & I guess I shouldn't expect this 209X50 to be any different. I'll take it out & shoot it & see how she does.
