I Like to cut some back strap into inch square chunks and put it in the slow cooker[crock pot] with potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and some baked beans for about 4 hours. This was a favorite meal after the wife died and I was single, we still have it once in a while since I remarried but not as often.

Personally, I wouldn't use a backstrap for anything but steaks, but that's me.

I get a real kick out of that show. I can just picture ole Semisane, in bib overalls, no shirt and bare foot pulling gators in the boat..

Been there. Done that. Except I don't wear bib overalls. Never liked those things. Light weight khaki is my style.

Pea soup or chill is just fine with me also!!!

As to the pea soup, that is a tradition in my house after New Years. My wife take the ham bone from New Years dinner and uses it to make our pea soup every year. The recipe comes from my great grandma and is a New Years tradition in Holland. It is called erton (sp?). Been eating it for years.
