What always bothered me about a QLA was it really doesn't help loading all that much. To help it would have to be a tight fit on the bullet, and be in perfect alignment with the bore.

As they are. You put if the bullet down though the QLA to the bore. Wiggle it around to find alignment, and shove it in. Just as easy to do without the QLA.

I'm talking about conicals. Maybe it helps with sabots.

Semi

One other point that I forgot to mention... because of the cupped base in a Gold Dot/Deep Curl, the only way that base can function correctly is with a fairly stout charge of powder. I am not sure that 90 grains or even 100 grains of GOEX is going to provide that extra stabilty that that base can provide. A flat based bullet like a XTP on the other hand can work well at the lower velocities...

Many moons ago RW wrote a big blog about the only bullets that will shoot accurately from a ML over and over again are flat based bullets.

So that also gives Muley little more creedance when he says try some BH that might turn you Speer bullets around into a more accurate class. I do not really want say to many positive things about you know who... Just makes him that more unbending...

A great number of guys on my forum are shooting sabotless bullets in their muzzleloaders with great accuracy. They knurl them up for the perfect like like the smokeless ML shooters do and accuracy is excellent. Some of course don't shoot as well as other bullets they try but thats just the name of the game.

The fact that the modifications make the rifle prefer XTP's is a real plus. Should make for a lot of good target shooting and game harvesting at a low cost per shot.
