Any Veterans out there remember using this?

Default Any Veterans out there remember using this?

My wife came home from her Mom's the other night with a box of goodies for me. There was a full can of this LSA oil in the box and from what I've read up on it it's a very good anti-rust preventative oil.

Along with the LSA oil, here's some of the other goodies I inherited:

1-5oz full can of StockSlick Wood and Leather conditioner
1-2oz full bottle of G96 Walnut stock stain
1-2.5oz full bottle of Laurel Mountain Forge Barrel Brown & Degreaser
1-2oz bottle (near full) of G96 Instant Gun Blue
1-2oz tube (near full) of G96 Perma-Blue Paste Gun Blue
2-1.25oz full sample bottles of Gunslick Ultra-Klenz advanced gun cleaner.

LSA was made for the M-16 as a daily oil. Shake before using. It's not a long lasting oil, and it's not good in cold weather. It's just ok.

CLP replaced it.

I did read that it was replaced by CLP. One fella on another forum said it was used mostly for automatic weapons. He said they used to literally pour it on the Mini-Guns to keep them hummin'. Another said it was a very good anti-rust agent and that's why they developed it for Nam. It is quite thick, almost milky looking stuff. I figured for free, why not use it?

It's like a grease-oil mix.

The Germans came out with something better in WW1 that's still popular. Especially with BP shooters...............Ballistol.

yep, I remember using it on my 16 back in 70-71. I was digging through my old chest and found one 2oz bottle of bore cleaner we carried.

LSA and RBC bring back memories. There was better stuff then and a lot better stuff now.

When Canada went to the toy gun we used CLP right off the bat as far as I can remember. Before that we used good old oil in our FN's (very lightly in winter).

I'll run the stock code at work Tues to see if it's catalogued in our system.

I've been thinking that maybe the next time I burn some powder, I might try some of that LSA as a patch lube...
