Recovered 250 REALs
Finally got this up. My first time out with the CVA Hawken 50cal, 70gr Pyrodex RS, Lubed wad and 250gr LEE R.E.A.L. As you can see the first 2 shots were waaaay at the bottom, but a heck of a group! I have been real pleased with the way these REALs have been shooting for me. That's right at 2" @ 100 yards. The next shot thats towards the middle and a bit higher was with sight adjustment.
I did however find a possible error with my sights. The german silver front sight blends into the white target background and while shooting later on that day, found my shots starting to impact to the right as the day went on. I changed to a 4" target (Previously a 3") which turned out perfect and allowed me to place the front sight better on the target helped greatly and she was shooting center but still low. I will adjust that later on when i have more time to work with the gun and load.
Recovered bullets from the 100 yard dirt impact. That flat one hit a rock and was still lightly pressed into the rock when i walked up there to see what i could find LOL.
247 - 247 - 245 are the recovered weights. These bullets average around 248.8 grains when they drop from the mold. With that kind of mushroom and weight retention, i don't have an issue using them on elk sized game.
This one really shows the nice deep rifling in the bullet.
