Default No Deer; But Consolation Prize

Today is the first day OK muzzleloader deer season. Got into the blind at about 06:30. At about 07:30 i heard something at the hog trap about 60 yards away. There was a coyote eating sweet feed from the feeder pan. Busted the coyote with my Encore: It was killed by the feeder pan. i'd rather kill a coyote than a deer; especially with a muzzleloader.

Yesterday morning we had three nice gilts in that trap. Too bad we didn't re-set the trap: Hogs went inside last night and ate the corn and sweet feed; the feed you see was put there this morning.

Yesterday three hogs were killed in this trap: Last night more hogs went inside the trap-go figure.

Indeed they do. Wondered why coyotes sometimes follow hogs: They even follow big solitary boars. Then one day i saw a coyote eat a pile of fresh hog poop.

Nice shot, hard to tell but judging by the size of the cage that looks like a biggun. Tom.
