Sabotloader kind of inspired me today
I had read Mike's post about shooting at objects and considering them the size of an animals heart, you could say. Well it made a lot of since. I see people all the time on the forum look at a picture and remark.. that's a dead deer, etc.
So today I found a half shot up target, but the other half was good. I put that on my PVC standing target and marched it back into the range. I set it up at 75 yards.
Rifle: White .504 Ultra Mag 1-24 twist 28 in barrel.
Scope: Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x32mm
Projectile: .5045 Bull Shop 460 grain conical
Powder: 80 grains of Triple Seven 2f
No wads and no swabbing the entire shoot
Caps: Winchester Magnum #11
Distance: 75, 100, 125 yards
Weather: 72 degrees and very little wind *no bugs either
Like I said. I marched that target back to the 75 yard marker.
I pictured in my mind that little white center as the heart of a deer. On 7x at 75 yards I could see it very clear. The first shot was off, but the next nine were right in there.
I then hiked it back another 25 yards to the 100 yard marker. Since all the large targets were basically shot full of holes I had to pick a different spot.
So I pictured that green square as the vitals of a game animal. Since it was so on, but a little high at 75 yards I set the cross hairs on the very top of the green square. I fired two rounds and then chickened out to fire a third.
I was going to quit for the day, but felt like shooting a little more. So I still had over 25 yards more of range. Now I have never (according to memory and notes) shot my Ultra Mag at this distance. It was checked three times and I got three readings.
The longest reading was 126 yards. So I wrote that down in my book. With all the vegetation, all I could see on that target back at the bench was this upside down turkey. So I aimed on the top of the bird and cut loose.
I did have one flier. But if you picture in your mind the size of that picture of the bird, and the heart of an animal, they might be kind of close to the same size. I think I could have hit that animal with a deadly round.
The last couple of shots I had to admit.. I had shot the White dirty. The breech was finally so fouled that it might hit the cap and not set it off the first .. even the second time on the last three shots. So after them, I decided to clean the breech. And since that meant taking the breech apart.. I decided that was enough shooting for the day.
Thanks Sabotloader for the fun day. The White shot perfect in my opinion.

Dave you ought ot be ashamed of yourself for owning such a crappy shooting rifle. I'll send you $20 so you can pack it up and ship it to me to dispose of. (like maybe in about 25 years).
Very nice shooting. That rifle stacks them in there for sure.

Alright Dave! but you picked another one of those rifles tht makes it really hard for you to look like you might be having an off day. The White 50's with the 1-24 are shooters and heck of a choice of projectiles also... You were bound to succeed
Really nice shooten...
I am really hoping to get more shooting in - but right now the farm is in harvest mode and it is dry - so I am forced to drive a few miles....
GOOD SHOOTING!!! Hats of to you..

That's the best you could do???? I do not own a white but, I went out with nimrodder and batchief to the range and that is what they were shooting, very nice and accurate rifles. Like your pics, after a few shots you just couldn't see where your bullet, hit......it was just hitting the hole of the previous shots.
