A .270 is a heck of an elk killer. You just dont use 130-140 grain bullets. Uh oh wait a second, i made a mistake on not using a 140gr bullet on elk!
DOH!

The other gun in the video that cant hit anything was a 30-06
I know for a fact a .54cal firing a 230gr .530" round ball with an 80gr pyrodex rs charge will cleanly and quickly kill an elk at 140 yards, i did it and the internal damage it did to the lung was amazing.

i dont need a chill pill. Im just giving some experience LOL. My brothers elk rifle is a 270 and he uses i believe the 150gr sierra boattails.
The point is, both will do the job. Whether the shooter can or not, a poor shot is just that. Nothing can make up for it.

Jon, no one said a .230 .54 RB wouldn't or the .270 for that matter lol.all that was said is bigger is better insurance .you and muley need to take a chill pill. when i hold a .230 gr RB and a .430 conical im my hand the decision is easy for me, where elk are concerned. like i said earlier you all shoot whatever you like Ray
Why do I need a chill pill? Everybody says the PRB will be fine except you.
Maybe you forgot that I have a cow tag? If I pull the trigger. It's dead.
Trust me.
Sometimes more insurance isn't needed. If I decide to go with the Maxi. It won't be with the load I tested. That kicked my cheek too hard. Especially on a Renegade which seems to kick more than it should for me.
