Default got my new guns out layaway

top cva plainsman 50cal flint lock
bottom stone mountain silver eagle

already scoped the silver eagle. forgot what brand of scope is on it. guessing simmons. stole the high mount from my 22.

going to refinish the plainsman. I just can't figure out how to get the lock off. it is stuck on there.

my best friend picked up an tc hawken for $125, gave him an whole box (guessing 50 to 75) of range lead round balls, enough cloth for round ball patches, and some patch lube.

he is letting me try out his black powder rem 44cal six shooter to see if I like it, if I do. I may buy it

Have you tried the lock on the Plainsman yet Corey? Is it a good sparker?

yes my trigger finger is itchin bad, but it has to wait almost 2 weeks at this point. since it is the first race of the season tomorrow, I will be watching it.

The plainsman spark really good, I may order another frizzen for it, I am going to take the one that is on it off and reharden it and change out the flint. I have not gotten all the accessories for it. so it is going to wait for a little while. decided not to refinish it.

they guy that owned all the guns did some strange things. he tried to brown an nickel/ss barrel, I got that cleaned up pretty well. the nipples are hard to get out. my friend's tc hawken has nut type nipple, we tried just about everything to get it out. i told him once he gets it out, throw it in the trash and get one that uses an nipple wrench. the brass was painted black, damn gun shop people talked my friend into buying gun scrabber to take the paint off. I said all we need to take it off was paint thinner of some type. guess what we ended up using .

I wouldn't monkey with it if it's already sparking good.

oh, forgot this, the bores are great. cleaned them up the silver eagle, clean patches, only 4 total. the plainsman, just an touch of rust, 4 cleaning patches, then 1 oil, that's it. wish I could find my bore light, lost yet another one.

i agree, dont touch that frizzen! You need a torch to heat it up cherry red. I did mine on my traditions but used oil to cool it and supposedly i was supposed to use water as it cools it faster?

I said thinking,

found the little flash lite I got to look down bores. both are perfect, ZERO pitting. I could not get a good look last time I looked down them, the lite I was using would no let me focus on the bore to well

hey corey, you got any use for the rear sight on that mountain eagle? I could use that sucker for my mtn stalker.
