duplex loads with bh209
I know that this is probably technically a no-no, but people duplex BPCR rounds with smokeless and bp all the time. Why not a little 777 or pryodex to light off BH209? I have half a jug of the stuff that I am no longer shooting because hang fires make my blood pressure rise to far, and I would love to burn it up. Can anyone give me a good reason not to pour 10 grains of 777 and then 90 of bh209 down my barrel?

Only one I can think of is you may have to swab between shots and you will need to clean your gun that same day after shooting. I love the fact that if I need to wait a few days before I clean my gun after BH 209, I can without worries.

Josh, NO only Blackhorn 209 is a progressive burning powder.
The reason we are warned against duplex load is because it changes the burning rate of the powder.
I am not sure if using a priming of 5 or 10 gr would be in that category, I do know some people including myself have used that method to see what BH would do with PRB so far I have heard of no problems.
I am sure you understand that such experimentation is at your own risk as there are no established rules or standards.

IF i were going to do it and ive heard people doing it with some success. Using 5-10gr of T7 i would reduce the total charge by weight at least 10% and keep the loads mild.
Use with some soft lead conicals if they are a bit loose might be interesting with about 70gr total.

If you wish, i will mail you a breech plug for your Accura that i believe will be 100% reliable using BH209. Thus far, one of the same design, has never failed me. If it doesn't work for you, just toss it.
