Default Sabot day - Accura - Mag loads

GM sent me a big box of bullets to try out. Awesome because he threw in some 200gr .429"? hornady xtp's with the green crush rib sabots. I wanted to try them out with a magnum load of T7 pellets and so i cleaned the Accura and headed to the 100 yard range. They loaded very easily, almost like a powerbelt and the accuracy was outstanding! I did not swab nor did i allow the barrel to cool down.

Next i tried the 300gr socom .45 in the yellow crush rib sabot. The first half went down but the rest of the bullet actually caused me to push so hard that i started to drool

First 2 shots were good but that 3rd shot i think was due to the barrel heat. Those 300's really warmed it up fast.

.45cal 260gr PT Harvester sabot, Not sure which sabot these are but they were smooth. Accuracy was horrible though. Thats a dead give away that i need a different sabot in the Accura.

See, i told you accuracy was bad LOL.

Im really impressed though with the accuracy of that tiny 200 xtp with 150gr pellets. This evening i may try 3 more when its cool out and see what they can really do.

Thanks again GM I appreciate the bullets. I will try those 300gr .500" barnes out later on after i clean the barrel.

Is it neccessary to use regular shotgun primers with Triple Se7en magnum pellets? And how about Blackhorn 209?

The w209 is actually a muzzle loading primer. It works fine with BH209 as well but only if your flash hole is correct. Low temp muzzleloading primers are non existent around here. They work good though with T7 and Pyrodex.

I have Winchester 209 primers for shotshells and Winchester triple se7en 209 primers. So you're saying that you cannot get Winchester triple se7en 209 primers? The shotshell primers are just like the ones you show in your photo.

#65 for the flash hole and #32 for the flash channel to get it clean of carbon.

777 primers i can no longer get locally. have to give 4 hours round trip and they are $9 a package.

ok first up are those 44cals in the green crush rib sabot with 150gr t7 pellets.
That shot on the far right was most likely me.

next up again were the 260gr PT with 110gr blackhorn209 this time and cci primers. Now thats much better than before!

After i checked for bullets that i could find " didnt find any" i headed back to load up some 295gr powerbelts. On a cold bore, the powerbelts always shoot dead on but once warmed, they drop low. Total of 4 shots. The loner was the first shot on a cold bore.

Good fun day trying new sabots out but after those 3 shots with the powerbelts and the mag load, My darned hand is numb and i now have a headache. Just to much recoil with them.

I thought the T7 "mag" pellets were actually equal (roughly) to 120grs of loose not 150gr. Since they dont recommend 3 of the other pellets, they came out with the mags as a "safer" option.
