Default 100 yards with new gun!

Took a CVA HunterBolt .50cal out this evening to 100 yards. I originally sighted it in with open sights but for serious groups i mounted a scope.

90gr Blackhorn209, 295gr Powerbelt, CCI 209 * Non magnum*primers. I had been getting some hang fires but once i increased seating pressure, everything was perfect.

Roughtly 1 3/4" group,

Im a little weary about upping my charge to 100 grains, but the deal is, not every primer does it. The rifle shoots awesome with 90gr BH209 so its going to stay right there!

I got this rifle off another forum from a gentle man who took me up on my offer of, Hey if you dont like it, send it to me and i will enjoy it. Hes the first one in 5 years to ever take me up on it.

A great shooting rifle and the 1:32 IMO does amazing with powerbelts. My CVA Mountain Stalker .50 has this twist and it does amazing groups as well.

Not to shabby for owned the rifle for a day!

That is some good shooting. My Black Diamond XR did the same thing with the primers when I shot BH209. The difference is, the primers were blowing out and pieces coming back at me.

That should make an excellent rifle.

Awesome, do you have some kind of tags on your blackpowder rifles that shows the load and bullet it shoots well? Or do you just remember? You seem to have quite a few rifles so i thought i would just ask how you remember the load each one likes.

all of my rifles pretty much shoot the same loads. I just look through the shooting range posts on my forum if i forget LOL. Its pretty basic though for me. 90-100gr BH209 with either a 245 or 295gr powerbelt or 250gr Thor if thats what i want to use.

Nice shooting! So BH209 works okay with a Hunterbolt? I have a .45 cal Hunterbolt and I've never tried BH209 because supposedly the breech plug is the wrong type. How's the blowback? I get pretty bad blowback with 100 grains T7, not as bad using 80 grains.

blow back isnt bad at all. i just used Gun Shield on the action a couple days ago and havent shot it yet. That stuff really makes clean up a heck of a lot easier.

Going out to shoot it here in a bit.
