Thumbs up Finally starting to come together.....

So I've been waiting with baited breath for my Leupold Ultimate Slam Muzzloader scope to arrive in the mail all week and it finally arrived today (however the damn postman left it on my neighbor's porch instead of mine , good thing my neighbor is an honest guy). After opening it this afternoon, I couldn't wait to put it on my Accura and man does it look good! I've got the Durasight silver finish medium scope rings and the scope sits high enough to clear the hammer (barely) but low enough that it comes to my eye perfectly. I did, however, have to remove the rear sight to make the scope fit. I cannot wait to get this out to the range and put a few (hundred) rounds through it. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow before the next round of storms move through. Sorry for the fuzzy pic but it was from my cellphone cam (my regular digital camera has "issues").

Thanks Semi! I was contemplating getting the Leupold USMS in 2-7 x33 but I was able to pick up the 3-9 x40 for cheaper so I went for it .

Nice lookin setup! I originally bought the Durasight Z2 Alloy Bases and Rings for My ACCURA but they were too high, I got the High Base See-Throughs. I had to pick my head up to an uncomfortable posisition to see through them correctly, so I sent them back.
I did'nt know they made a (Medium) Set? I just thought there were Low and High. But I like to use (Both) the Scope and Open Sights, so I needed the See-Thrus and even if the Medium Bases and Rings fit me then I still could'nt use them as I'd still have to remove the rear sight, so for future referance, Thank You, you saved me from ordering the Med Set. I went with CVA's Old Style (Universal Scope Mounts) they fit perfect!
I love My Leupold USMS and ACCURA set up, This past Season I harvested 6 Deer with it and both the scope and ML pefromed flawlessly through the Rain, Snow and COLD!
Let us know what load you use and how it shoots, your groups and how you like the Leupold USMS.
Success to You!

I know you will love your new scope. I have one on my Knight Vision and it is a typical Leupold scope. I have not set up my loads yet using the sabot balistic reticle (SABR) system.

That is going to be a lot of fun getting that job done.

Here is my set up:

BP, I think what you refer to as the low scope rings are what durasight calls medium (I didn't see any low rings on their website).

I don't think CVA actually makes the Universal Scope Mount anymore. I went to their website a few weeks back and they had the Universal Scope Mount on there but you couldn't order them. A few days later they were removed from the site all together. I'm guessing since BPI owns both CVA and Durasight, they are consolidating all of their scope rings under Durasight, but that's just my guess.

I don't really like shoot-thru rings and over the years of shooting my Leupold 3-9x40 on my centerfire rifle, I've learned how to acquire a target just as fast with a scope as I could with open sights, probably faster.

Thanks for the goodwill everyone (especially you BP)! I can't wait to get out to the range and start working up some loads. I'm shooting the 240 grain XTP with a crush rib sabot using loose T7 powder. I also have some 250 grain SW and my dad recently purchased some 390 grain PR colorado conicals (he has the exact same setup as I do). I'll try and post regular range reports as often as I get out. I have a lot of work to do between now and the end of Sept (Kansas early muzzleloader season )!

Cheers!

No CVA does'nt make the (Universal Scope Mounts )anymore. I had one of the Original packages from the rings and mounts with the item number on it and I called CVA and told them what I had and gave them the item number and they sent me a package of the CVA Durasight Z2's, they had the exact same serial number on the package! Boy was I pissed! as I told the guy at CVA that I had the CVA Durasight Z2's already and they were to high and I wanted this older set of CVA's rings and mounts because I had them and they fit perfect for me. But they sent me them anyway, and after waiting a half hour on the phone to order them wich cost me $6 because they dont have a 1-800 and it was long distance. Then I had to call them, wait another half hour to get through on hold, and return them at my expence.
I like the see thru mounts as we get A-LOT of heavy Snow Storms during Hunting Season, and even with my Butler Creek Scope Covers, wich help to keep the snow out they still cause your scope to fog over with them on. So it's easier to blow the snow off the open sights sometimes and quicker than to get the snow out of the scope, even if the scope is'nt fogged over if it's snowing hard it only takes a matter of a second to fill the lens with snow. The open sights have saved me many a time with a shot I could'nt get with the scope.
I also use the 240gr XTP Mag, but I use 110gr's of Pyro RS and a T7 Primer. I get 1"groups at 100 and 2"groups at 200yds with this set-up. One time I had 4 shots touchong at 100yds and then the fifth shot was a inch away, I was so excited to see the four touching that it put too much pressure on me to get the fifth one in there I guess or I would have had a perfect 0" group at 100!
Good Luck and let us know how everything turns out for you.
