JSG in the ol Hawken
Took my dads Cabelas Hawken .50cal out this evening at 50 yards. WOW!! Granted, first shot was high like always on a clean barrel, but the next 4 were awesome. This rifle has never done that with Patched round ball!
70gr JSG 2F
.490 round ball
.020 Patch
Didn't bother with labeling the shots
Just to show you the width of the group,
Next time i plan on trying 90-100gr JSG and see how that does & if it will tighten it up.

Nice shooting!
I would bet that the rifle always shot this good, but since your last time shooting it, you have gained experience in proper form and technique. IMHO that is why the rifle seems to mysteriously shoot so good with something that IMHO I would use for a fire starter in my burn barrel. :-)

Since shooting my Hawkens Carbine .50 cal in PRB, I have been amazed at the accuracy of the gun. The old timers had something going for them in hte woods with these guns.
Nice shooting there pal. Must be nice to have a range in your backyard.
