Last years BH209 not so great???
Ive heard some people are having trouble with BH209 that they bought last year. I went out to shoot my Omega X7 this morning, Same set up as last year, Except scope. Winchester 209s BH209 & 200 grain SST in MMP sabot. Out of 8 shots I had 2 hang fires & 1 what felt like a reduced load. Just barely made it out of the barrel. This is out of a freshly cleaned gun. Im gonna go back out & try some 777. Im thinking this BH209 may be breaking down over time, or something to that effect. This is a almost full bottle I had left over from last year. It was stored right next to a bottle of 777. I ll know more later.
Later; Went & tried again with 777 2f . 80 grains were grouping for me. right at 2 inches, Which may be the best I get with this scope. leupold 2X7 shotgun scope. the reticle is real thick. It covers up the bullseye. So is any one else having any problem with old BH209. It worked like a champ for me last year. This year Im not gonna have time for some good range time to experiment with different loads so as it stands its 80 grains 777 under 200 grain SST mmp sabot. The good thing about today was the 200 grain SSTs looked great. I dug a bunch out of the sand pile. Almost the perfect mushroom every time. Almost as good as the 180 grain Gold dots.

Ouch! really there are starting to be more and more such accounts even accounts of some bore rusting, although i still think a majority of the users are having great luck with the powder.
I am still a T7 shooter although I have shot 3 jugs of BH. The only thing that really holds me back from a full switch is the price and local availabilty. Well, all of that and the fact that I have not found that big of a difference with BH vs T7.
Don't those Gold Dots really surprise you? They certainly do work well.

I to have experienced hang time on occasion when using Winchester Primers. I shot up 3 jugs of BH and haven't experienced any hang time when using CCI M or Fed 209A magnum primers. Still waiting for word on the Lehigh breechplug. kl

Well, I suppose anything is possible. I bought a number of cases to start with because it was had to get and I am saving a half case back from the original batch and every 5 or 6 months I open an use one out of the original batch. So far no sign of a problem and I just use the regular STS and CCI primers. I wonder if we are missing something. And the rust does not surprise me I learned long ago that any gun not properly cared for will rust, I have seen many cartridge gun ruined and any gun thats ever had black powder or black powder subs is going to be prone to it .
