The only misfires I have had with BH 209 (even from some pretty old bottles) has been in a freshly cleaned and oiled gun that I did not remove the oil residue well before reloading and shooting.

I did have one pa-pow last year when I left the gun loaded for an extended period of time in cold weather. I've learned a few things this past year. Last year, I didn't protect the muzzle, I didn't protect the nipple area and I used a lot of breech plug grease. This year I'm using a bone dry breech plug with teflon tape and protecting the muzzle and nipple. Also I switched to the hottest primer out there...Fed 209A.
I'm giving it a try again this year...with the added precautions.
Another thing I'm doing now is swabbing with a lightly coated patch of Hoppe's followed by a couple dry patches. The swabbing is more for peace of mind to insure that my barrel is protected from rust while it is loaded.
My groups have been really good in my 0.52 and 0.50 ML's. I can't wait for deer opener on Nov 21. Hopefully I'll have pictures to share.

I think I figured something out. My X7 was new last year. Real tight bore. The blue MMP sabots were tight, Real tight. But they shot great. I maybe shot 150 shots thru it last year. Well Im thinking the bore loosened up a bit. The MMP sabots are still tight, but not as tight as they were last year. So with the light bullet ,200 grain SST & a not so tight fit, maybe is the problem. Like I said before. Gun season starts in a couple days ,So I just went out back & put 5 shots into 2 inch group at 100 yards with the 777, Boy its dirty but it goes bang. I ll play with the BH209 later. Way too pricey just to throw away.
