Because my ranges are 75 yds or less I prefer the 275 - 300 gr bullets out of the 50s and a 200 gr from the 45s.
With the 54 I still use the good old PRB.
I've only shot deer with the 50 so far but I can't recall any going more than 50 or 75 yds after the shot. And a few were DRT.
