Default .54 renegade report,thank you's

thanks again for all who posted there recemendations.shot a box of 425g bufallo bullets with no cleaning between shots, the last loaded as easy as the first.I shot 10 loads with 70g 3f 777. and just sprayed the 2x2 target!went to 80g and started getting 4" group @ 55yds.I then started with.530 ball with white t/c patches lubed with t/c bore butter.4 shots sprayed the target again.dropped to 60g and shot 3" @55yds.I also forgot powder first rule and pull nipple and add powder and tapped that in mabe 10g? for fun i set up a 2x6 and 3/4" ply wood and shot, prb went thru the 2x and put a big dent in the plywood! amazing what that little a charge will do. karl

Sometimes you would not think that 10 grains or so would be that critical to accuracy. But it will surprise you. Do you use a T/C Hot Shot nipple/stainless steel nipple? Normally T/C rifles do not have a lot of ignition problems. What kind of powder are you shooting and what kind of caps are you using? Them Renegades are great rifles.. Nice Shooting.

Guns are kinda like computers and women, you can't make them do anything, you have to find out what they like...

I just bought this rifle 3 wks ago at local dealer for 225$ supposedly never shot and it looked like it.nipple looks like stainless, bought cci reg.#11 as this was all they had. I had no hangfires in the 20 or so rounds I fired.as this is my first sidelock and with no capper i found this a little hard to handle.stopped at diff. dealer,no capper but had t/c musket cap nipple and cci caps so i used these last time out,had 1 ftf and 1 hang fire.the musket caps seems to fit a little loose and i gave a little pinch before i put them on to snug them up.is this ok? the only powder i have for this gun right now is 777 3f.

I bet them musket caps set that rifle off just fine. Do you get any hammer snap back? Does it ever pop back to half cock is what i mean.

it did a few times with the#11caps. I would have thought it would be the other way around.
