Hey MD - some guy ready my post I sent to youin the classifieds and contacted me. He sold me a T/C Hawken stock, lock and hardware and is also sending me the older all steelopen sights for a price well below $100. The MO is already in the mail to him. I couldn't pass the deal. Now I have to give Kerry a call at GM barrels on Monday.

Found the stain and finish.
BC rusty walnut and TOW Antique Forumula Finish. Im tired of the tru-oil deal so i want to try something new and see how it comes out. I will also brown the barrel with LMF and the trim once i order that kit.
Also going to build a humid box to speed up the browning process. This one should keep me happy for a lil while

MD - I finished a couple rifles sith satin finish clear polyurethane. They came out really nice and the finish is durable and easier than the Tru Oil which seems to take forever to dry.
One stock I stained and waited about a week to be sure the stain was good and dry and the other had beautiful grain in the wood so I just finished it with the polyurethane. It brought out the grain nicely but left the natural walnut finish.
I like the idea of the steel cast parts. I don't care much for the polished brass either. I would really like to get either pewter or brushed aluminum. I was even considering taking my brass to a plating house and asking if they could nickle plate and sand blast it to give it that dull silvery finish.

MD - where can you pick up a steel trim kit. I don't like the brass either. I figure if I can get a steel trim kit, I can get it red hot with my torch, then dip it in oil and give it a nice dark bluish grey color. The just put a protectant of some sort on it.

Thanks - nice. What about the eustacheons or whatever they are called? The brass places on the sides of the stock for the wedge pin and the lock screw bolster?
I guess you could get the ones for the Renegade from T/C.
