We All Knew It Would Be Coming
On Jan 6, 2009, U.S. Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) introducedH.R. 45, also known as "Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act." The bill is anotherlicensing and registration scheme.
The measure calls for owners of any"qualifying firearm"to submit to the federal government an application that shall include an address,a picture, a thumbprint, a completed written firearm safety test, private mental health records, and a fee, andwould require the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer, and owner in America.
The bill definesa "qualifying firearm"as "any handgun"or any "semiautomatic firearm that can accept any detachable ammunition feeding device" (like your clip fed .22 auto).
H.R. 45 is essentially a reintroduction of H.R. 2666, which Rush introduced in 2007. whichwas co-sponsored by several well-known anti-gun legislators--including Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. H.R. 45 currently has no co-sponsors.

Semi
I was really hoping the state of the economy would for-stall any gun action. The first 100 days - the president gets the most done so again I was hoping all of this would disappear for those 100 days...
Somehow, the American public, the ones that really do not make waves, really need to figure out riding in the back is not the way to go. We really need a voice.

I honestly believe that Obama is not the problem that we have. Pelosi and Reid will make sure that gun control legislation will come back. The problem with Obama is that he will not veto it. So Obama does not have to do anything except put his signature on the legislation. So he can say that it was not him that got the ball rolling, however the ball is going to roll. Tom.

Sooner or later we're going to need a gun owner's march on Washington, and fill the Capital Mall with a true Millon Man March.

You all need to write your Senators. Tell them that the gun owners of American are tried of taking the blame and the burden for all the people that illegally use firearms in the commission of a crime. Everytime someone uses a weapon in the commission of a crime, the news media talks about how easy it was for them to get that weapon. Most the time if you really look, they obtained that weapon in an illegal manner. Further we are tired of being taxed and regulated. Instead regulate those that have used weapons in the commission of a crime.
If the courts were made to enforce 1/2 the current gun laws on the books there would be no problem. But what you find is District attorneys use the gun part of the crime as a "lets make a deal" card. What the public sees is a criminal robs an old man in a parking lot at gun point or worse yet uses a gun in the commission of a violent crime and is sentenced to two years in prison. That's because they deal all the violence off the sentence so the criminal will plead guilty to a lesser charge. Then there is no court. BUT MORE IMPORTANT the District attorney can brag about his conviction rating (believe me, they worry about this for future elections).
Unfortunately the news does not like to report how the crime was dealt down by attorneysto a lesser offence. Its easier to talk of the armed attacker and how he only got two years in prison.
Further regulation of gun laws, and taxes, licensing, is just a way for the government to make more money and to later take away the rights of every gun owner in this country. I really am not worried about the president at this point either. He's got a plate full right now. But what we need to do is make sure the gun owners of america's voice is heard and most of all understood.

Guys, it's not too early to take personal action. Here's an e-mail I just sent to my Representative.
If you don't get in the game you can't complain about the outcome.
You can use the "Contact Your Representative"siteto identify your Representative and/or send him or her an e-mail. It's here:https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml. Just select your State and put in you zip code. When you click on Contact My Representative it will redirect you to your Representative's web page. Then click on the Contact Information section of that page. DO IT!!!
H.R. 45, the ‘‘Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009’’, introduced on January 6, 2009 by Representative Rush of Illinois has been referred to the Judiciary Committee. Please use your contact with members of that committee to make sure this oppressive and unreasonable piece of legislation never makes it out of committee.

Am often in contact with OK senators Inhofe and Coburn as wellas Rep. Tom Cole on gun control. They can be counted on to vote against this thing if it gets that far.

rd - its thinking like that that can get it to pass. While you sit on your butt, the antis are working hard to get things like this passed.
Take a few minutes and send a quick letter to you senators and representatives.
