I use that same bullet in all my CVA's, it's devestating! Thank's for the report on them Hog's, sure seems like it would be fun to hunt em and good eating too. I sure would like to send some of this Lake-Effect Snow your way, we have way too much, the Deer that have been walking through my yard to get to the burried apples are up to their briskits, and those are the big ones! Take Care and enjoy them Hog's.

ORIGINAL: falcon

My CVA Staghorn Magnum has a 1-28 twist, so you must really have an old one.
It is an old one. It was bought in 2000. The barrel and receiver are separate parts. The newer ones have thebarrel and receiver in one piece.

It must not have been blowing directly from the side.
The firing line is laid out to the southwest and the wind was blowing directly from the west.
Falcon, Are you using a #11 cap? I wanted to try Pinnacle in my Knight 85 but didn't know if 11 caps would work.

I shot a lot of Pinnacle 3f out of my Wolverine LK-II and all that had was a #11 cap system and the powder went off fine. Also I shot Pinnacle out of my Traditional rifles with #11 caps and again, no ignition problems...

I like to smoke mine with apple wood. Lee
That apple wood smokedpork is so good. My Dad and and his neighbors in WV used to smoke pork. Sometimes they smoked withapple wood instead of hickory.
