Flex tip Hornady bullets
I have a chance to buy a bunch for about 55 cents a piece.
These are flex tip interlock bullets
44c .430 265 gr
45c .452 250 gr
45c .458 325gr
Has any one used these ? any information on how they shoot or open up would be appriciated.

RE: Flex tip Hornady bullets
They look a lot like a SW but they are supposed to have a thinner jacket on the nose an interlock like some of Hornadys CF bullets and the 250gr is designed for the Bushmaster 450; I have seen some of the bullets that came out of wild hogs from the first batches released and they looked like a very good mushroom for about 1/2 to 2/3 of the length of the bullet. They are designed for 2200 to 2400 FPS from what I have been able to fined out so far with 120 gr BHI wont be far off 2200 fps.
Since nobody answerd I assume since they have not been out long that they have not been tried. So I am ordering a hundred will check them out. Lee

I have them on order too, but it appears Hornady is tardy in shipping them out to the big sellers (cabelas, midsouth, midway). My sabots already arrived now just waiting on the bullets.
I'm trying the .458 325 first. They are publishing a .223 BC for it if I recall, and a .23 for the 265gr .44. My first plan is to push the 325 as fast as possible for greater long range energy; if I can shoot it at 120gr+ I'll be happy (even if my shoulder isn't).

I have two boxes of the .430/265gr flextips on the way from Midway. They should be here by Monday. I hope they shoot well. I am thinking 110 - 120gr. of Bh209 and the harvester reg or crushed rib green sabot.I think this will be a great bullet. I hope its as accurate as the .430/300gr. XTP. I'll let you guys know what they do when I get a chance to go to the range.

The 250gr .452 is the one I will try first as when I looked it up it is designed for a velocity that is what I am shooting with SW I am hoping since the main difference is in the interlock and a thinner jacket on the nose than the newer SW that it will shoot accurate at max loads as the ones used in the 450 Bushmaster which they are designed for opened in an ideal shape.
The 325 if I remember is a 458 rifle bullet, was it designed for the 45:70? Lee

Leymoyne,
Don't be surprised if you don't get many responses. I asked the same question a while back and didn't get many reply's. They're just so new that nobody has got their hands on them yet. Maybe we can give a review on them soon. What gun do planon shooting them out of? I will be using and Endeavor and an Omega. I will probably start with the Endeavor though. Which sabot do you think I should start with. The regular green or the crushed rib.Remember, I'll be using BH209 so I need a tight fit.

I will start with a Triumph and if the results are encouraging I will go on with the Omega. I will be using BH and will do 90,100,110,120, gr for starters. I will try them with the Harvester Short black ,the MMP HPH24 and the Harvester Crush Rib. I get excellant results with all these sabots matched up to different bullets in these guns. Lee

DANG!! I thought I'd get a jump on shooting them by getting an order standing, now Midway has them stocked before Midsouth where I ordered from...oh well, at least I know they're being shipped now.
The interesting thing is that the Hornady site listed the 265gr .430 bullet as a higher BC than the 325gr .458...the BCs on Midway are different and the 325gr is higher.
I guess I'll wait on the 265s until I have the 325s tested...if I can shoot the 325s accurate and FAST I'll stick with that.
I have time to shoot next weekend if they get them and ship....
