WhereI disagree with the Thompson Center philosophy of gun care is they promote the use of bore butter and all natural cleaners. Now I have no problem with all natural cleaners. After all, what's soap and water. But that bore butter is something that I used to depend on, and all it did was cause me grief. Give me a high quality gun oil like Birchwood Casey Sheath any day for barrel protection.
i also agree BUT i really like bore butter in summer when i am shooting target,it keeps barrel clean somewhat on fouling you get out and makes balls go in easier.

but , like you, i never store gun with bore butter anymore.

in winter, like you if i do use rb, i use different patch lube like hoppes bp and nothing in barrel, no bore butter.

that stuff freezes terrible in winter, i hate it, will not use it in winter but summer, oh yes, i like it.
