Default 250 gr. Shockwave question

OK, here is my current set-up:

CVA Optima Pro .50 w/ 29" barrel
348 gr. Powerbelt Aerotip
110 gr. APP 2F loose

Load is very accurate to say the least.

I am going to change over to Triple 7 loose 3F after or deer seasons in Michigan. Now I am considering the 250 or 300 gr Shockwaves as well.

Can anyone help me with a good place to start out with my powder volumes with each of these bullets as well as a max load. I just need to know where to start working from.

I am using the 3F as I will also be shooting this in my .45 in-line.

Any and all suggestions are greatly welcomed.

Good shootin' to all,
Z

Only reason I am considering changing bullets is all the talk of poor performance on game.I know all about the need to not overpower these bullets, but lower charges in my gun are not as consistent. Also switching to T7 for more consistent powder.

If you want to shoot a Shockwave, I would stick with the same powder charge.. It should work with that long barrel.

cayugad,

You do not see any issues running 110 gr. of T7 3F. I am only asking as I am not very familiar with the T7 but I have heard that it is 10-15% hotter than most others and that 3F will build pressure fastr than 2F.

Thanks for the info by the way,
Z

Maybe since you are going to shoot 3f Triple Se7en you might want to start your loads at 90 grains and see how they shoot. Triple Se7en is 15% stronger then APP. The 3f is not a huge increase in velocity over the 3f, but is finer and easier to ignite IMO. So if you start at 90 grains of loose, you should be fine.

Z,110gr 777-37 was a very accurate load with a 250 SST out of my Omega. No problem with your CVA if it is your most accurate load. Work up untilyour groups start to open up. I shoot 105 gr 777 3f with a 260 NoslerPartition HG

If your bore is tight, you might want to start with the E-Z glide sabots. But normally in my CVA I can shoot the standard Shockwaves with little problems.
