UC Short Mags and Powders
When I casted up the .451 bullets the other day I also casted up a bunch of the UC Short Mags and then sized them also... I had a Castor oil lube on them as well.
I also casted some REAL conicals and sized them to see what would happen with them. I shot for the center of the bull first with the UC Shorts and could not have been more happy. I never swabbed the barrel. I used no wad of any type. But as long as I lined up that Nikon Pro Staff and squeezed that trigger careful, it just kept laying them in there. I was shooting at 80 yards off a bench. I have no idea how many I shot at that center bull. I was just having fun. It was 73 degrees, windy, and sunny. The bugs were a little hungry, but some of that good bug juice kept them at bay.
I then tried the REAL conicals and aimed for the 12 o'clock spot on that bull. They hit higher then I thought they would. But not all that bad of a group. They loaded easy, being sized to .504 and not wad on them as well.
Then I wanted to try more of the UC mags with Triple Se7en 3f. Problem is I brought 2f with me. So I upped the charge to 80 grains and shot that. It did real well. I was aiming at the 6 o'clock of the bull.
Then for some fun, I took that target down and hung up an empty Dr. Thunder (WalMarts version of Dr. Pepper.. pretty good stuff too!!!) . Back at the bench table I set up my shooting sticks and cut loose at it five times. I seen it move each time, so I figured I was hitting it...
Those conicals do indeed do a number on stuff when they hit. What a great day for shooting...

Great shooting there Cayugad. Guess I'll gave to get a .451 mold of some type. I hate to do it, but I'm thinking about putting a scope on my .45 barrel. Those fiber optic sights have to go.
